Featuring Bill’s trademark musical interludes, observations and stories of the road, DANDELION MIND will be based loosely on the theme of doubt (or will it?), following Bill from his real-life saga of being trapped by the ash cloud to barely contained rants about celebrity, TV, creationism & Michael Winner. He demonstrates new instruments, he sings an internet love song, a lament about punk heroes, Iranian hip-hop, & plays a mean folk-bouzouki. Thomas the Doubter gets a new look, Darwin’s curious obsessions and the myth of intelligent design worked over in Bill’s own surreal style.  Revisit the music of his youth with a French Disco re-work of Gary Numan’s  ‘Cars’, played in his own inimitable way, and maybe some Wurzels-based remixes of classic German techno.

Reminiscent of that other great female vocalist Karen Carpenter, Rumer is a fantastically unique artist for our time. Shying away from self-conscious trend, she carves a path all her own with distinctive nostalgia which is inherent in her music.

In early 2010, and at the age of 31, the word-of-mouth chain of events that surrounded Rumer’s career began to pay dividends. She was found by her manager when he posted a question not at all related to music on his Facebook page: “Who Is The Most Underrated Person You Know?” Five separate people, none of whom knew each other, replied with the word ‘Rumer’. Having been signed to ATC Management, all corners of the industry quickly began angling for her signature. Then, in March, her hard work paid off, and Rumer finally signed to Atlantic Records.

Whilst Rumer is prepared for the comparisons with classic artists – the likes of Carole King and Karen Carpenter are certain to crop up – she is certainly not intimidated by them. “I’m not concerned with what’s musically popular or fashionable, really. All I wanted was to make something of quality that would stand the test of time, that people could come back to, and that was rooted in authenticity. Because that’s the kind of music I listen to.” It’s taken Rumer a long time to get here, but now she’s finally out of hiding, you’d be hard pressed to think she got lucky.

Rumer’s debut single Slow broke the top 20, showing that the mainstream is finally ready for a musician of her classic calibre.

Blackpool Rebellion Festival 2011

The Rebellion Festival is held at the Blackpool Winter Gardens. The event is based around punk rock and ska music. Rebellion Festival is every year in August and always attracts a large audience.

Each year the Rebellion Festival attracts such great artists like Bad Religion, Gallows, The Damned, Captain Hotknives, Stiff Little Fingers and The Beat. Every year the Rebellion Festival attracts some of the biggest acts around the world making it one of the largest independent punk and alternative music festivals in the world.

Make sure to get down to the Arena stage on Thursday at 12:30 to see Kings of the Delmar, whose lead singer Wayne stayed with us last year, rehearsing in the lounge, along with Billy Liar, who is playing the Almost Accoustic stage on Friday at 2:00pm.

TICKETS for darts’ biggest summer event, the Sky Bet Mobile World Matchplay, are now on general sale.

The World Matchplay will be held from July 16-24 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, with 32 players competing for the £100,000 first prize and the prestigious trophy, which was won by Phil Taylor for an 11th time last year.
The event will feature the top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit – which currently includes World Champion Adrian Lewis, Blackpool’s Ronnie Baxter and Fleetwood’s Wes Newton – along with the 16 highest ranked non-qualified players from the Players Championship Order of Merit.
The nine-day event – screened live on Sky Sports HD – will begin on Saturday July 16 with the first of four successive evening sessions of first round action.
The second round will be played on Wednesday July 20 and Thursday July 21, with the quarter-finals split across two sessions on Friday July 22.
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday July 23, with the final being played on Sunday July 24.
